On Sunday late evening, the Indian Oil Corporation limited’s oil pipeline, which is used for discharging of oil from ships at Paradip Port Trust’s oil jetty to the tanks of the oil company, was found to have been drilled and oil drain out by mafia.
The mafia had drilled the pipeline and with the help of plastic pipes fixed to the underground oil pipe, they stole oil. later, they loaded oil in plastic containers and jars and sold it away to fishing trawlers and other vehicles.
An oil tanker was discharging diesel on May 22 when it leaked into local river and sea water. locals complained to police and IOCl officials. The IOCl officials rushed to the spot and stopped the leak. It is alleged that such crime is occurring daily.
