Demanding a higher rate of compensation, permanent employment and a suitable rehabilitation package for the Paradip IOCl refinery project-affected people, the Krushak Ekata Mancha of the Pratappur and Fatepur are on agitation at Paradip for the last two days.Paradip ADM Ramakrushna Sahoo, Sub-Ccollector Narahari Sethy and Idco official SK Mohanty along with senior police officials went to the agitation site and held discussion with the farmers.
But the marathon discussion did not yield any result. The officials expressed their inability to sort out the issue.The agitation would continue until fulfilment of the demands, said Mancha president Sangram Keshari Routray. The agitated farmers have stalled the ongoing IOCl pipeline work at their villages. Hundreds of people, including women, are takingn part in the agitation.
