The land losers for the Paradip Refinery Project under the banner of the Krushaka Eakata Mancha staged a demonstration in front of the district Collector’s office here on Wednesday demanding job for them, pointing out that they parted with their lands for the project 15 years ago.
The demonstrators said that as the project is about to be commissioned, but the project authorities have been disobeying the R&R policy meant for industrial displacement of the land providers. The authorities had committed to provide permanent job for each land loser, but the promise has not been kept despite the land losers having approached the IOCl authorities and the State administration several times.
The demonstrators submitted a memorandum to the Collector with Mancha president Rabindra Swain warning that they would continue their stir if their demand is not met.
