The sub-contractors of the Indian Oil Corporation limited (IOCl) Refinery project here are on an indefinite hunger strike in front of the main gate of the refinery from Monday demanding payment of their outstanding dues.
The sub-contractors led by Suresh Chandra Behera and Santosh Sasmal alleged that the construction company KSS has not paid ` 45 crore
outstanding bills to them, for which they are in great financial difficulty. A meeting held by the Paradip ADM on May 4, 2016 had assured that the Paradip Refinery authorities will pay all the dues of the KSS Company to the sub-contractors. But even after eight months of the meeting, the IOCl officials have taken no step to fufil the assurance given to the contractors and pay them their outstanding bills. Among others, DN Sahoo, Dilip Kumar Jena, Karmajeet Jena, Subash Barik, Maheswar Nayak, Pratap Sahoo and Anil Kumar Moharana were present.
