Expressing discontentment over the move by the Finance Department on October 16 and 26 regarding identification of duped chit fund investors and auction of confiscated properties of the chit fund companies, the Arthika Sansthamanankadwara Kshatigrastanka Milita Manch (ASKMM) on Monday warned that the investors would take to the street and take legal support until and unless they get back their hard-earned money.
At a State-level convention held here, Manch convenor Jayanta Das alleged that the Government is making online identification of the affected investors ignoring the demand for a door-to-door survey at the tehsil level. This would deprive many genuine investors of the application process for refund.
Adding to the woes, even after the online and offline application, the applications would only be sent to ADM if the data matched to the database available with the State Crime Branch Economic Offence Wing (EOW) and police, Das pointed out.
Though the Crime Branch EOW and police have so far filed cases against 250 chit fund firms and seized computer hard disks having database of investors by conducting raids on 50 to 60 companies, they did not furnish those databases to court in any interim chargesheet of over 465 cases, he further pointed out.
Hence, the Manch has decided that all investors under its banner would file offline applications at tehsil office addressing to ADM on the respective scheduled dates from the day the Government would issue the investors’ identification advertisement, Das added.
