Investors have lost faith on Odisha Govt: BJP

The BJP on Saturday said the positive environment for industrial development that had been created in Odisha in nine years till 2009 has faded away subsequently as investors have lost faith on the State Government.

“During 2000-2009, the State Government had signed 93 MoUs with investment proposals to the tune of Rs 9 lakh crore. But the proposals have not materlised as the State Government turned insensitive and inactive subsequently,” alleged BJP national general secretary and Odisha-in-charge Arun Singh on Saturday.

In a statement, Singh said while a wave of development is being witnessed across the country, problems of unemployment, labour migration and poverty have gripped Odisha. “The State Government should stop raising Central neglect and concentrate on creating a positive environment for industries and investors,” Singh said.

He said as the State Government has failed to provide required facilities, raw materials and suitable environment, industrialists and investors have moved back from Odisha. Most of the major project proposals have gone out of Government’s hand and Odisha is going to be a non-industry State soon, he said.

The 93 MoUs signed in nine years included 48 for steel projects, 28 for power projects, three for aluminium projects, four for cement, four for ports and six for ancillary projects.
