Invest Bhubaneswar, a summit of entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers and experts from Odisha and abroad, was inaugurated here on Friday.

Established business leaders said entrepreneurship in Odisha is challenging, but it certainly pays dividends to those who have ideas, intention, innovation, patience and perseverance.

Those who addressed the inaugural session of the three-day event included Utkal Chamber of Commerce & Industry president Ramesh Mohapatra, CII Odisha Chapter chairman MK Gupta, hotelier JK Mohanty, Dr Pradeepta Mohanty, chartered accountant Rajiv Sahoo and OPECA president Binod Das.

Former Chief Secretary Sahadev Sahu, Shantanu Deb Mukharjee from West Bengal and Bharadwaj Mishra, NRO from Australia, appreciated the role of Invest Bhubaneswar in bringing in young entrepreneurs to the State.

Ayaskant Mohanty of the Organising Committee gave the welcome address. Debasish Patnaik of Invest Bhubaneswar spoke on the inception of the forum.

On the second day on Saturday, a symposium was opened by Chief Secretary Jugal Kishore Mohapatra, who said, “Policy paralysis is everywhere which slows down investment process, but we have to overcome it. Promoting investment should be reckoned as a national duty in order to ensure financial growth of the State.”

The State Cabinet has approved a new ICT policy, which is dynamic and takes care of a lot of issues that have come up in the last 10 years and is farsighted taking the next five to ten years into consideration, he added.
