The Bakul Foundation in collaboration with the Humara Bachpan observed the International Day of Service (IDOS) in slums here on Sunday.
On the occasion, volunteers of the two organisations organised various fun and game activities for the children in at least 20 slums, including Mangala Basti, of the city.Speaking about objective of the day, Humara Bachpan’s east zone coordinator Sradhanjali said, “Children are often neglected and invisible when it comes to developmental policies and schemes of the Government. But, they are the ones who are vulnerable in the societal set-up. We on the International Day of Service reflect on the need of healthy living conditions for a child growing up in urban poverty.” Bakul Foundation’s Suji Mohapatra coordinated the programmes.
