The ‘Mo School’ campaign of the State Government has generated great interest among non-resident Odias (NROs) to connect with their schools and take part in its development. Odias in Europe, the US, Australia and other countries along with various national and international organisations are keen to join the programme.
This was revealed by Chairperson of Mo School Dr Susmita Mohanty while making a presentation before Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the State Secretariat on the progress of the campaign.
The highlights of the presentation were:
Mo School programme will achieve financial and administrative self-sustainability within next five years.
Statewide awareness campaign covering all 30 districts in June, July and August; international campaign in September.
Alumni, alumni associations, etc., have joined the programme.
Governing councils and district and block-level committees for smooth conduct the programme soon.
Government to provide double the amount pledged by any individual/organisation for the designated work.
Rs 100 crore corpus formed.
Government will help develop school infrastructures, sports facilities, hostels, environment awareness, health and curriculum development.
Notably, the ‘Mo School’ campaign, launched by the Government on the occasion of Children’s Day last year, is an initiative to make pass-out students active participants in the development journey of their schools.
Under the programme, whatever is contributed in terms of funds for development of schools, the State Government would contribute double the amount. Initial corpus of Rs 100 crore has been announced for the initiative.
