The Samajwadi Party Odisha State Committee on Monday submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik urging him to intervene in the case of rape of a six-year-old Odisha girl student in Bangalore.
Party State president Rabi Behera said the Chief Minister should take the issue seriously like the issues of attack on lincon Subudhi in Noida and other incidents that humiliated Odias outside the State.
Behera said the State Government should send its Women and Child Development Minister, State Commission for Women (SCW) Chairperson and State Child Protection Council Chairperson to Bangalore to take up the incident with the Karnataka Government.
He further suggested that the State Government should appeal to all Odias living outside the State and even in other countries to come together under one umbrella to ensure safety and security of their children.
In the wake of the Bangalore incident, Behera urged the Chief Minister to direct the School and Mass Education Minister to ensure safety and security of schoolchildren in the State by convening a meeting of the principals and management members of English medium schools.
