The spat between the Congress MlAs demanding PCC president Prasad Harischandan’s removal and the latter’s father-in-law Suresh Routray, a senior party leader, is getting uglier by the day.
On Saturday, Talsara MlA Prafulla Majhi and Sundargarh MlA Jogesh Singh lashed out at Routray for his remarks against the MlAs. Majhi said, “Who is Sura RoutrayIJ Is he a party vice-president, a general secretary or a spokespersonIJ Does he realise that making such silly statements tarnishes the image of the partyIJ”
Majhi said, “The intraparty feud has come down to a personal level and Routray should put an end to it. The PCC president is unable to shoulder the responsibilities.”
He further said the demand for a change of guard in the PCC has been raised in the past and would continue to be made in coming days.
Echoing similar views, Jogesh Singh said, “Sura Routray is talking like a joker, and he is not all bothered how the party will be strengthened. As he is the father-in-law of the PCC chief, such statements are causing more harm to the party.”
Further adding fuel to the fire, Routray on Saturday said, “If anyone tries to touch the PCC president, the person will be kidnapped from his house even if he is fast asleep. We will severely thrash up the person irrespective of the party he belongs to.”
However, Routray lavishly praised leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra and said, “He is a knowledgeable person. If he is given the Chief Minister or a Union Minister post, he would do a good job.”
