Refusing to grant anticipatory bail to Chitra Athwani at this stage, the Odisha High Court, however, has granted an interim relief to her by directing the Bhubaneswar police not to arrest her till her bail application is heard again on August 7.
The Bhubaneswar police had twice summoned Athwani in connection with arrest of Deccan Chronicle vice-chairman PK Iyer, who was staying in a star hotel in Bhubaneswar that was booked under her name. Iyer was wanted by the CBI for a banking fraud case.
The High Court has also directed Athwani to depose before the police and record her statements as it was reported that a team of Bhubaneswar police has gone to her address in Darbhanga district of Bihar.
