Insects in soya curry: Tension in Bonei school

Published on:
Tension prevailed in the Kendrikela Upper Primary School in Sundargarh district’s Bonei block area on Tuesday afternoon after insects were found in soya chunk-curry meant for the mid-day meal.

However, normalcy returned after the school headmistress assured parents that a proper enquiry would be conducted. According to information, a total of 282 students study in the school. While the school authorities provide rice to students every day, an authorised Women Self-Help Group supplies other items like egg, soya chunks for the mid-day meal.

On Tuesday afternoon, one of the students marked four insects in the Soya chunk curry as soon as the same was served to them. The student along with others informed Headmistress Pramila Dwivedi about the insects. The students did not eat the meal. Parents rushed to the school and shouted at the headmistress demanding immediate action against those responsible for the mistake. “The SHG is responsible for this. I would inform the matter to the higher authorities and a proper inquiry will be conducted,” said the headmistress.
