Injustice to weightlifter Ghasiram alleged

Published on:

lok Shakti Abhiyan district president Madhusudan Sethi at a press meet has alleged that weightlifting star Ghasiram Khara of Koraput district, an Adivasi sports star, has faced caste discrimination due to a conspiracy hatched to humiliate him.

Sethi said there was an adverse analytical finding in Khara’s urine sample ‘lasix’ was made, which is an offence under anti-doping rules, 2015, but he does not know about the same. It is being assumed that he has been given the drugs with water, he added.

He said as per National Anti-Doping Agency Article-14, after failing ‘A’ category test a ‘B’ category test should be done and its result should be kept confidential. But even after ‘A’ category of Khara, the result was circulated which is illegal.

It has also affected Khara mentally and is disrespect to him, said Sethi.

The Abhiyan has demanded a special probe in the matter and a written answer from the Odisha Weightlifting Association secretary about leak of the dope test information.

Abhiyan president Kishore Patra has also demanded checking of the CCTV footage of the sports club association training camp.

Abhiyan State president Prafulla Samantara has filed a complaint in NADA, IWF, Department of Sports and Youth Affairs of India, SC and ST Commission and Human Rights Commission for justice for Khara.
