In a tragic farewell, the seriously injured Pooja Chhattria, a survivor of the Deogarh bus accident, was released from the VIMSAR hospital in Burla for some time to pay respects to her husband who died in the mishap in Deogarh which claimed 27 lives.
Pooja’s husband Somnath Chhattria died on the accident spot while she sustained serious injuries and was unconscious while being admitted to the Burla hospital.
After she gained consciousness, moved by her repeated requests to bid adieu to her life partner in his last journey, the hospital authorities agreed to her plea.
“My husband passed away in front of my eyes, I kept wailing while my husband lay dead under the bus tyre. I have seen death in front of my eyes,” said Pooja.
She was taken by her relatives to their ancestral house in Tangerpada. After the final meeting with her deceased husband, the relatives removed the symbols of matrimony from Pooja. She has since returned to the hospital.
