Injeti Srinivas, a 1983-cadre IAS officer from Odisha, has taken over as the new Director General of the Sports Authority of India (SAI). Srinivas would continue to hold the additional charge of Chairman of National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority till alternative arrangements are made, SAI sources said. Srinivas is closely associated with the department of sports and was involved in the preparation of the National Sports Code, 2011.
Besides, he had a major role in the formation of the National Sports Development Fund through the contributions of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and corporate houses during his stint as the Joint Secretary in the Union Sports Ministry.He was also the Principal Secretary for the Sports and Youth Services Department of Odisha.
