Students of the Biju Patnaik Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, Brahmpur have been sitting on an indefinite relay hunger strike since October 24 demanding required infrastructure and filling up of all teaching and nonteaching posts in the college as per the HCC (MS) norms.

In a memorandum submitted to the Health and Family Welfare Secretary recently, the Students’ Union apprised that their demands, made through peaceful agitation, to avail facilities in the college have fallen in deaf years only.

Due to the State Government’s failure, the college has now been disallowed admission permission

by the concerned Central authorities.

The union demanded that an indoor hospital facility be opened soon and all vacancies in teaching and nonteaching posts be filled up on regular basis. Out of 35 sanctioned Professor, Reader and lecture posts, only eight are in position in the college, they informed.
