A one-year-old baby girl suffered burn injuries when a mobile phone exploded on the bed where she was sleeping on Sunday night.

The victim was rushed to the Laxmipur Community Health Centre (CHC) and later shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).

Rohit Nachika of Bilangsil village under Laxmipur Block had bought a Jio mobile phone for Rs 1,500 a year ago. Just like any other day, he charged the mobile phone.

Later, he kept it on the bed where his wife and one-year-old daughter were sleeping.

At around 1 am, the mobile phone suddenly exploded severely injuring the baby. The face of the infant was burnt in the incident.

As there was no public transport available at midnight, Rohit rushed his baby to the Laxmipur CHC on a motorcycle on Monday morning, where the doctor referred her to the DHH.
