Fake NFSA cardholders of Gajapati district are now in a state of panic as the district administration has intensified the drive for identifying them and filing FIRs against identified ones.
On the direction of district Collector Sudhanshu Mohan Samal, gram panchayat Executive Officers (EOs) and not moving door to door to identify ineligible people who have been included in the NFSA list. They have been strictly asked to ensure that no undeserving person included in the list in their respective GPs. For this, they have to find out fake beneficiaries and send their names to the concerned BDO.
Similarly, the BDOs have been asked to file FIRs against the unlawful card takers on receipt of reports from the Eos.
As of now, FiRs have been lodged against 110 illegal cardholders and of them six persons have been arrested. While 248 persons have refunded cards, a total of Rs 6.96 lakh has been collected as fine.
Many illegal cardholders would be booked in the coming month, said an official.
