'Ineligible BJD men get houses in city'

The BJP on Thursday alleged that many ineligible persons in the municipal area have been provided pucca houses under the Rajiv Awas Yojana  (RAY) in sheer violation of the Central Government norms.

“RAY houses have been allotted to people, who are getting pensions as retired jobholders and who have already been covered under the Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana. Houses have been provided to BJD supporters, though they are not eligible,” alleged party spokesperson Golak Mohapatra and Bhubaneswar unit present Harekrushna Khuntia in a Press meet here. They alleged that 12 of 80 under-construction houses at Manhishiakhal under Ward 56 have been allotted to ineligible persons. While some of the 12 persons are pensioners, some others have pucca houses in their villages. Some of them have also got houses under the Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana, they alleged showing some documents. Mohapatra said, earlier on the allegation of the BJP, names of 14 relatives of BMC Deputy Mayor K Shanti had been stricken out from the beneficiaries’ list. They said the party would soon submit a memorandum to Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu to seek his intervention into the issue.

Among others, party’s State executive member Amiya Dash, Jagannath Pradhan and fore Bhubaneswar ZP member Sangram Keshari Paikaray were present.
