The Udala Sub-Divisional Hospital in Mayurbhanj district was ransacked by three youths late on Saturday night.
Reports said that the youths came to the hospital in an inebriated State after sustaining injuries in a road accident. Alleging that the hospital staffs were not paying attention towards their treatment, they vandalised hospital equipments, doors, chairs and several other properties. The youths also thrashed a doctor and security guards of the hospital.
Police detained the three accused for questioning. Protesting the incident, doctors and staff of the hospital staged a dharna in front of outpatient department on Sunday demanding stringent action against the accused. Healthcare services were affected at the hospital due to the staffs’ agitation.
District administration officials reached the hospital and assured the agitators that a police outpost would be set up in the hospital premises. Following this, the staffs withdrew their dharna.
