Indulata blasts SCW chief for 'pro-VIP' attitude

lashing out at the State Commission for Women (SCW) for its ‘pro-VIP’ style of functioning in the sensational moral turpitude case against senior bureaucrat Taradatt, the IAS officer’s wife Indulata Das has knocked at the door of the Chief Minister for justice.

Charging that SCW Chairperson lopamudra Buxipatra has become biased in handling the case, Das in a letter to Naveen Patnaik has urged him to ensure justice to her.

“The commission is no more a Mahila Commission but has been transformed into a VIP Commission,” rued Das.

“Being mentally harassed by my powerful VIP husband and his family members, I had taken refuge in the Mahila Commission with a Himalayan hope of getting relief. But ultimately, what I got was an ocean of disappointment. I am exhausted and disgusted to the limit. I have no hope, and I have lost all faith on the Mahila Commission,” said Das in her letter.

“He (Taradatt) is going to retire on June 30 this year. The commission is deliberately prolonging the case to give him a long rope so that he would retire from the service without facing any trouble,” said Das.

Alleging that though she had filed her complaint in December 2014, the SCW has not made any headway in the investigation; hence, the SCW is not functioning without fear or favour, Das said.

“I think she (the SCW Chairperson) is working under pressure of VIPs,” Das alleged.

Meanwhile, SCW Chairperson Buxipatra claimed that she has done what she could within the parameters of law.

“I have done what I could within the limits of rules. I have never gone beyond it. I always facilitate justice to all coming to the SCW,” said Buxipatra responding to the allegations of Das.

Das, a retired professor, filed a case with the SCW suspecting her husband to be having an extramarital affair with a Delhi-based IES officer. She had also filed a written complaint with the Chief Minister’s Grievance Cell on December 5, 2014 alleging torture by her husband Taradatt and had sought police security fearing threat to her life.
