India to lose Rs 41,205 cr in Rafale deal: Niranjan

The BJP Government at the Centre is trying its best to cover up the massive corruption that is taking place during its tenure. Rafale deal has exposed them publicly, said PCC president Niranjan Patnaik here.

Patnaik alleged that massive corruption has happened in the Rafale deal. India will lose Rs 41,205 crore because of the new deal PM Modi has signed after scrapping UPA’s deal. Dr Manmohan Singh led UPA Government had agreed for 126 aircrafts, out of which 18 were to be bought in ready to fly condition and the rest 108 aircrafts were to be manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics limited (HAl). As per UPA’s deal, each aircraft would have cost Rs 526.10 crore. Manufacturing by HAl would have created thousands of jobs for workers, engineers, technicians in India. UPA wanted to strengthen India’s air defence, he said.

However, after PM Modi became Prime Minister, he scrapped UPA’s deal and signed a new deal to purchase 36 aircrafts at a cost of Rs 1,670.70 crore per aircraft. Even Egypt and Quatar managed to have a better deal than PM Modi. They got Rafale jet at Rs 1,319.80 crore, said Patnaik.

The UPA Government had negotiated a ‘transfer of technology’ clause in the old deal so that India could benefit. But under the new deal signed by PM Modi there will be no ‘transfer of technology’ to India.

All this has been done to accommodate Anil Ambani and his company, Reliance group, he charged.

Reliance has no experience in aircraft manufacturing. Reliance floated its defence company just 10 days before PM Modi announced the new deal. PM Modi is trying to appease Ambani, he slammed.

If Modi Government could not trust its own PSU Hindustan Aeronautics limited (HAl), which has vast experience in aircraft manufacturing, how could it trust a company, which was only 10 days old and have no experience in aircraft manufacturing, asked Patnaik.
