Duped investors of various chit fund companies under the banner of the United Forum of Chit Fund Victims held demonstration at Sundargarh on Wednesday and submitted a memorandum to the district administration, demanding identification of all victims from tehsil level and refund of their money at the earliest.
Hundreds of victims with placards took out a rally from Madri Kalo Bhavan of the city to office of ADM Sundargarh, where they submitted the memorandum to ADM Bhaskar Chandra Turuk.
“There are thousands of chit fund victims, who have not submitted affidavits to the Commission for chit fund and therefore, identification should be done from each Tehsil so that each and every victim can be identified,” the memorandum said.
They demanded that all the owners of the chit fund companies should be arrested. Since the Crime Branch has already conducted an investigation into the matter, the State Government should immediately publish a white paper on the issue, they demanded.
The protesters alleged that the State Government was attempting to refund selectively, mainly to the micro investors but they demanded that efforts should be initiated to arrange refund of money to each and every investor.
They also blamed the existing laws of State and Center for which the chit fund companies could easily dupe the investors.
“We strongly demand that necessary amendments be made in the laws,” the memorandum said.
leaders like senior journalists Soumya Ranjan Pattnaik, Rabi Das and senior advocate of the
State Jayanta Das addressed the rally and decried inordinate delay in making refund to the money.
