The State Government on Sunday announced a special compensation package for people affected during the recent communal violence in Bhadrak town.
The General Administration Department approved the package to provide assistance for the riots-hit people. As per the announcement, a maximum amount of Rs 2 lakh and a minimum of Rs 15,000 would be provided to the violence victims of the district headquarters town.
The Bhadrak district Collector has been asked to provide the compensation to 443 beneficiaries identified in the first phase. Meanwhile, the situation improved in the town following the unrest that had erupted over derogatory remarks against Hindu deities on social media. The district administration relaxed the curfew for 14 hours on Sunday from 6 am to 8 pm in the town.
