Over 18 years, due to an inept Government in Odisha the State is lagging behind in all sectors. After the Narendra Modi Government came to power, adequate resources have been provided to Odisha, but the Naveen Patnaik Government has failed to provide basic facilities to the people. This was state by BJP national president Amit Shah while addressing a public meeting organised by his party at the lal Bahadur Stadim here on Wednesday.

Though the Centre has provided Rs 45,000 crore to the State, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has failed to ensure development, Shah alleged.

“Still, 36 per cent of the State’s households lack electricity supply. Around 50 lakh people in the State are living in kutcha houses. Besides, why drinking water has not been provided to every household yetIJ” Shah

“Though the Centre sanctioned funds under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana for 12,000 villages, they are still unutilised. Despite Central assistance 8.40 lakh children are still suffering from malnutrition in the State; the Chief Minister should give an answer,” Shah said. He said, “From the number of people gathered at this meeting, I can see that the BJP would form the next Government in Odisha. Naveenbabu has got tired of governing; and a change is needed in the State.”

He said the State needs a ruler who can understand the Odia people “The Modi Government at the Centre will ensure electricity supply to every household of the country before 2021. Pucca houses will be given to each poor family before 2022,” Shah claimed.

Speaking about the condition of higher education in Odisha, Shah pointed out that not a single university in the State is in the Top 10 list.

He further said, “I am requesting the people of Odisha that they should contribute to the ‘Vijay Yatra’ of Narendra Modi. If the BJP comes to power in the State, it will ensure 24-hour electricity supply and piped drinking water facility to every village.”

Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Jual Oram also lashed out at the BJD Government and urged the people to elect the BJP for Odisha’s development.  Among others, Odisha in-charge Arun Singh, BJP State president Basant Panda, Senior leaders Suresh Pujari, former CM Giridhar Gamang, national spokesperson Sambit Patra and many other party leaders were present.

In reaction, State Revenue Minister Maheswar Mohanty said, “He (Shah) is making the same allegations time and again as he has nothing more to say. If the Central funds have not been utilised, how come the State has developed so much, he questioned.

BJD general secretary Sanjay Dasburma said, “They should find out why the claims made about the Bijepur by-poll fell flat and how come people are time and agai reposing their faith on Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.”
