Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday urged Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde to ensure inclusion of Sambalpuri- Koshali and Ho languages in 8th Schedule of the Constitution of India at the earliest.
In a letter to the Union Minister, Patnaik said, “I understand that the matter of inclusion of languages in the 8th Schedule to the Constitution is presently under consideration of the Centre. Accordingly, we have recently forwarded a detailed proposal basing on the recommendations of an Expert Committee chaired by Dr Rajendra Kishore Panda, IAS (Retd) and other eminent linguists who have recommended inclusion of Sambalpuri / Koshali and Ho languages in the 8th Schedule to the Constitution.”
