Incessant rains lash many parts of Odisha

Published on:

Incessant rains lashed many parts of the State on Monday even as heavy to very heavy rainfall was predicted at some places in next two days under the impact of a well-marked low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal.

The low pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood has now taken the shape of a "Well Marked low Pressure Area" (WMl) over the same region, the meteorological centre here said.

Under its influence, rains and thundershowers would occur at most places over the State while one or two places over southern region of the State are likely to experience heavy to very heavy rains during the next 48 hours, it said.

Heavy rainfall is likely to take place at a couple of places over N Odisha during the same period. Gusty surface wind speed reaching 40 to 50 kmph and at some places up to 60 kmph may prevail along and off the Odisha coast. Fishermen were advised not to venture into sea.
