bJP STAGES DEMO IN B’PUR ON MAMITA CASE
Brahmapur: The BJP Ganjam district unit on Tuesday took out a rally from the old bus-stand to the Berhmpur Municipal Corporation office and staged a demonstration there demanding ouster and arrest of Minister Dibya Shankar Mishra and a CBI Inquiry into the Mamita Meher murder case. Party workers burnt effigies of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Ministers Mishra and Pratap Jena for attempting to cover up the incident and Mishra’s alleged involvement in the case. The demonstration was led party district president Bibhuti Bhusan Jena, Kanhu Charan Pati and Niranjan Panigrahi.
NEW AEO JOINS PURI MUNICIPALITY
Puri: OAS officer Pramod Kumar Ray has joined as Additional Executive Officer (AEO) of the Puri Municipality. Earlier, he was working in the Collector’s office as Residence Officer. He would superannuate after four months. For nearly a year, the municipality AEO post was vacant. There is a proposal to convert the 140-year-old civic to a municipal corporation.
MEMU TRAIN TO RUN BETWEEN BBSR, NAYAGARH
Bhubaneswar: It has been decided to run MEMU trains between Bhubaneswar and Nayagarh Town from November 15 by replacing the present conventional coaches. Bhubaneswar-Nayagarh Town-Bhubaneswar Special from Bhubaneswar from November 15 and from Nayagarh Town from November 16 will run with MEMU coaches. The schedule timings and stoppages for the train will remain unchanged.
6 DACOITS ARRESTED IN ROURKELA
Rourkela: The Lahunipada and K.Balanga police of Bonai subdivision under the Rourkela Police district have arrested six members of a gang who have committed a number of dacoities at gunpoint from different business organisations. Three pistols, 14 mobile phones, four bikes, knives and cash of Rs 14,000 were seized from their possession. According to police, within a month, the robbers looted lakhs of rupees in various police station area of Bonai subdivision. Their soft targets were the customer service centres in particular.
PPL DAV GIRL feTED FOR ACHIEVEMENTS IN JUDO
Paradip: PPL DAV School student Bandana Majhi has won two gold medals in the State Judo Championship held at Titilagarh under senior and cadet category (15-17 age group) and is representing Odisha in the National Judo Championship being held at Chandigarh from November 7 to 13. For this rare achievement, she was felicitated by school Principal Sanjeeb Kumar Sahoo.
