Drug seized; woman peddler held in B’swar
Baleswar: The Sahadekhunta police in Baleswar district on Friday seized 11 grams of brown sugar and arrested a drug peddler. The accused was identified as Saira Bibi (50) of Masjid Lane of Aradbazar. Besides the narcotics, the cops also seized a cash of Rs 1,600 from her possession. Later, the accused was forwarded to court after being booked under the NDPS act, said police.
4 held in raid on gambling den in Khariar
Nuapada: A Khariar police team led by Sub-Inspector Jitendra Nayak conducted a raid at a gambling den adjacent to a family restaurant near the Budhia Dangar forest and arrested four gamblers on Thursday. The arrestees were identified are Kunja Raut of Paikpara and Prasanna Kumar Tandi of village Jethupali in Komna block, Alok Tandi and Pramod Nial of Chheliapada of Khariar NAC. A cash of Rs 1,33,000, seven packets of playing cards, four mobile phones, and other items were seized, said Khariar police station IIC Kailash Sethi. The accused persons were forwarded to court. SI DD Pradhan was investigating into the case.
BPSL senitises peripheral area
Sambalpur: Amid the surge of Covid-19 cases in Sambalpur district, the Bhusan Power and Steel (BPSL) management has started sanitisation in village Thelkoloi and the entire drains line connected to the village road along with local market and vegetable market. Villagers appreciate the initiatives taken by the company to fight against the pandemic.
