B’pur MP donates modern ambulance to Gajapati
Paralakhemundi: Brahmapur MP Chandra Sekhar Sahu on Friday donated a modern ambulance equipped with lifesaving facilities to Gajapti district from his MP LAD fund. The ambulance procured at a cost of Rs 50 lakh was received by Gajapati Chief District Medical Officer Dr PK Patra and verified by medical staffs. Sahu has promised to donate two more such ambulances in coming days. People from cross sections of society expressed gratitude to the MP.
K’mal Bar Association greets newly-appointed judges
Phulbani: Members of the District Bar Association greeted the newly-appointed Vigilance Judge Subhadarsi Pattnaik, Family Judge Smruti Lekha Barik, ADJ POCSO Somendra Patra and Women Court ASJ Srimati Acharya on their joining in Kandhamal district. A meeting was organised at the association office to welcome the newly-appointed judges. The meeting was attended by District Judge Sarada Prasad Nayak and other judicial officers. Association secretary Ajit Patnaik gave the welcome speech and introduced the guests and president Sidheswar Das proposed a vote of thanks.
Deer dies being attacked by dogs in Gajapati
Paralakhemundi: On Friday evening, while a deer came to drink water at Atharnala river near Mohana, dogs attacked it, leaving it injured and bleeding. A Forest Department team led by Kalpana Nayak rushed to the spot and took the deer to the nearest livestock centre for treatment. Veterinarian Dr Birendra Panda of Mohana tried to cure the animal. Unfortunately, on Saturday, the deer died.

NTPC Talcher Kaniha celebrates Ambedkar Jayanti
Talcher: The 130th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr BR Ambedkar was celebrated at the NTPC Talcher Kaniha on April 14. Guests Chief General Manager Sudip Nag, GM (O&M) Shivam Srivastava and GM (HR) Rajnish Rastogi paid floral tribute to the Father of Indian Constitution. The meeting was attended by NTPC employees and members of unions. Guests gave away bicycles to schoolgirls under the CSR project.
NABARD observes Ambedkar Jayanti
Bhubaneswar: The 130th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr BR Ambedkar was celebrated at the NABARD Odisha Regional Office here. Chief guest State ST, SC Development, Minorities and Backward Classes Welfare Jagannath Saraka highlighted the teaching of the architect of Indian Constitution and exhorted people to follow his footsteps. NABARD Regional Office CGM C Udayabhaskar presented a note of the NABARD Odisha’s contributions in uplifting the rural poor through various socio-economic interventions. On this occasion, Saraka also inaugurated a library for the NABARD Progressive Employees’ Welfare Association.
Odisha’s Jhilli bags gold at Asian Weightlifting
Bhubaneswar: Odisha weightlifter Jhilli Dalabehera made the country and the State proud as she won gold medal at the Senior Asian Weightlifting Championship in Tashkent, Uzbekistan in 45 kg women category on Sunday. Dalabehera lifted 69 kg in snatch and followed that up by 88 kg in clean & jerk for a total of 157 kg to seal top spot.
