Rs 5.6L looted from liquor shop staff in Angul
Angul: In a daring broad daylight robbery, unidentified armed miscreants allegedly looted Rs 5.6 lakh from an employee of a liquor shop at Phulapada under the Banarpal police station here on Friday. Sarab Yadav was travelling by a scooter when seven bike-borne miscreants intercepted him. They attacked him with swords and other sharp weapons and snatched the cash and his vehicle. The looters fled the spot before he could raise an alarm. Yadav sustained critical injuries on his hand and was admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital. Police began investigating into the incident.
two sisters commit suicide over trivial issue
Brahmapur: Two sisters committed suicide by consuming poison at Gudiali village under the Kabisuryanagar police station in Ganjam district on Friday. They were identified as Deepa Bhuyan and Jita Bhuyan. Sources said the two girls took the extreme step following a fight over a trivial issue in the morning. While one died undergoing treatment at a hospital in Aska, the other died on the way to the MKCG Medical College Hospital here.
Man found hanging from tree in Bhadrak
Bhadrak: A Man was found hanging from a tree near Dasandhia ground under the Bhandaripokhari police station here in the district on Friday. The deceased was identified as Pabana Dalai (40), a resident of Dalai Sahi. The locals spotted the young hanging from a tree with a cotton cloth near the ground in the morning. On receiving information, police reached the spot and recovered the body. But police are yet to ascertain whether it is a murder or suicide. The cause of the death would be known after postmortem, police said.
