Blood donation camp held in Brahmapur
Brahmapur: A blood donation camp was organised by the Sabuja Bahini and the Brahmapur Blood Bank here on Friday. Twenty units of blood was collected in the camp. Blood Bank’s Dr Rashmita Panigrahi and her team collected blood from the donors. Sabuja Bahini president Sibaram Panigrahi, secretary Prasanna Kumar Sahu, vice-president Dipak Kumar Patro, joint secretary A Prakash, treasure Pranaya Kumar Sahu, Satyanarayana Das, K Kabila were present coordinated the camp. With this, a total 800 units of blood were collected from all the 36 camps held under by the organisation in different parts of the State.
Railway staff found dead at Baripada
Baripada: A railway staff was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the premises of Baripada railway station on Friday. The deceased was identified as Bhagaban Mohanty, a resident of Padhuan panchayat under Basudevpur block in Bhadrak district, who was working as a gatekeeper at the railway station. His body bore several injury marks suggesting that he was stabbed repeatedly. A railway employee had called Mohanty on January 1 night for consuming liquor together. Next morning, he was found dead.
Subarnapur student drown during picnic
Sonepur: A picnic to celebrate the New Year on Friday in Binika in Subarnapur district turned tragic when a youth drowned in the Mahanadi. The deceased was identified as Anwesh Pradhan (22) of Seledi village under the Binika PS. He was a student of the Gangadhar Meher University. While picnicking, Anwesh went with some friends to take bath, but he slipped into deep waters.
