RRC inaugurated at K’put medical college
Koraput: A Regional Resource Centre (RRC) of Sahid Laxman Nayak Medical College was inaugurated by college Principal and Dean Dr Krushna Chandra Biswal in the presence of Dr RN Panda, Prof Kaushik Mishra, Dr Lalit K Rath and Dr Vivek Singh, Health Specialist, UNICEF, on Thursday. The technical support for the RRC would be provided by the UNICEF. On the occasion, a panel discussion was also held. Dr Biswal said the RRC is meant for the undivided Koraput district--Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur and Rayagada.
Junior Engineer held taking bribe in J’suguda
Jharsuguda: The Vigilance police on Thursday trapped Junior Engineer Susant Kumar Patel of Kolabira block while taking bribe of Rs 2,000 from a person to clear his pending bills. He had demanded the bribe from Naresh Rao to clear his bill of Rs 12,000 for construction of toilets under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in Jhulapali village. On Rao’s compliant, a Vigilance officers] team led by DSP Birendra Nayak caught Patel red-handed. The team further raided Patel’s office chamber, Government quarters and parents’ residence. A similar case had also been filed Patel while he was posted in Lakhanpur block.
MCL bids farewell to Director JP Singh
Sambalpur: The Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) on Thursday bid farewell to JP Singh, Director Technical Operations. Singh served in the Coal India Limited for almost 40 years and was MCL Director since June 1, 2013.
Mock drill held at NTPC
Talcher: A mock drill was held at Chlorination Plant area of the NTPC Talcher, Kaniha on Thursday in association with the District Crisis Group, Angul. Prior to mock drill, a presentation on on-site emergency plan was given by plant AGM, Safety Coordinator SS Behera. The drill was witnessed by representatives of local industries and after the drill, NTPC Kaniha CGM Santosh James briefed the team members for the successful completion. District Crisis Group convener and Assistant Director of Factories and Boiler, Angul Zone-II Umakant Samantaray evaluated the performance.
