In a first at the Utkal University, the authorities are likely to introduce a new rule to conduct a special examination for the students who were not allowed for the course work examination after being enrolled into various PhD programmes.
A proposal in this regard has been made to the Vice-Chancellor through the Controller of Examination requesting him for a special examination for the exempted PhD students at the university.
With a possible nod to the recommendation, the PhD students exempted from appearing in the course work examinations in different subjects for various reasons are likely to get another chance for the test this year.
The recommendation has been made by the HoDs (Heads of the Departments) to fix a date for a special examination.
However, it needs to be reviewed as it had been held never before. The VC has been urged to take a decision by forming a special team, said University Examination Controller Sharat Kumar Majhi.
According to reports, several students failed to appear in the course work examinations to attend the regular classes after enrolment into the PhD programmes this year.
Notably, the students need to submit an NOC before the university authorities for appearing in the course work examinations.
In case they fail to deposit the required document, they are declared ineligible for the tests and have to wait for another year for continuing the PhD programmes.
