Five girl students of the MGM School at Sector 19 here fell unconscious on Saturday while rehearsing for the Independence Day celebrations.
Sources said that soon after they fell unconscious at the Ispat Stadium, they were rushed to the Community Welfare Society (CWS) Hospital. later, one of them was shifted to the Ispat General Hospital (IGH) after her condition deteriorated.
Sources said the conditions of four students were stable after IV drips were administered to them. However, the student shifted to the IGH was reportedly in critical condition.
“The students might have fainted out of dehydration during the parade rehearsal due to high humidity,” said the parents of one of the students.
However, some of the parents alleged that even though the students were holding rehearsal in the hot and humid conditions, there was no water or other facilities available at the spot. As an ambulance was unavailable, the sick students were rushed by a bus to the hospital.
