The city on Wednesday witnessed a heinous crime against a pregnant woman when her in-laws allegedly set her on fire in order to eliminate her.
The seriously injured woman was rushed to the SCB Medical College Hospital.
The incident occurred at around 3.30 pm at Raghunath Nagar of the Dumuduma area under the Khandagiri police limits.
According to reports, Mehnad Bibi (25) was severely injured when her husband Mir Radris (32) and in-laws set her on fire. Her brother Sk Julfak lodged a complaint with the Khandagiri police regarding the inhuman incident.
