One Durga Sidhu allegedly thrashed to death his three minor daughters and subsequently committed suicide at Ulibasa village under Anandapur block in the district.
The incident came to the fore after the blood-stained bodies of the girls aged between six and nine years along with their father’s body were recovered from their house on Friday.
However, the exact reason behind this dastardly act of Sidhu was yet to be ascertained.
Locals said Sidhu’s wife had died two months ago, following which he was under severe mental stress.
The incident shocked everybody as it happened during the ongoing Raja festival.
