In a tragic incident, at least two persons died of asphyxiation and another became critical while removing centring of a septic tank at Mandosil village under the Paikamal police limits in Bargarh district on Thursday.
According to reports, two labourers, Karunakar Patel and Madan Bariha, entered into the under-construction septic tank of Sushant Bag of the village in morning to detach the centring while mason Nepal Netam stayed outside.
Moments later, the duo didn’t respond, following which Netam went inside the tank in a bid to rescue them.
However, the conditions of all of them became critical due to suffocation.
Being informed, Fire Services personnel reached the spot, rescued them and admitted them to the Nuapada District Headquarters Hospital, where Karunakar and
Madan were declared brought dead. Netam was undergoing treatment at the hospital and his condition was stated to be critical.
