The State Government on Saturday carried out a minor bureaucratic reshuffle with transfer of four IAS officers and an OAS officer.
Odisha Skill Development Authority CEO and Employment Director Patil Rajesh Prabhakar was transferred and appointed as Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department Special Project Director.
Sundargarh Collector Rashmita Panda was transferred and appointed as Odisha Skill Development Authority CEO and Employment Director
Dhenkanal Collector Nikhil Pavan Kalyan was appointed as Sundargarh Collector.Sundargarh DRDA PD Bhumesh Chandra Behera was appointed as Dhenkanal Collector.
Home Department Deputy Secretary Monisha Banerjee was appointed as Subarnapur Collector.
For the first time now, the State will have OAS officers as District Magistrates in as many as 10 districts.
With Behera’s appointment as Dhenkanal Collector, the number of OAS officers serving as Collectors reached an all-time high of 10.
Never in the history of the State administration had OAS officers got hold of so many districts. Way back in 1991, when the then Chief Minister Biju Patnaik carved out 30 districts, OAS officers had been posted in four districts as DMs.
Now, their number has come to 10; and days are not far when at least 20 districts would be manned by OAS officers, pointed out a young IAS officer, who feels that the State Government is banking upon State service officers more than on the IAS.
