IMS & Sum Hospital gets NABH tag; first in eastern region

The Institute of Medical Sciences and Sum Hospital (IMS and SH), run by the SOA University, added a new feather to its cap this week when it received accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH).

The IMS and SH has become the first medical college and hospital in the eastern region to achieve this distinction.

It was awarded following an independent external peer assessment of the organisation’s level of performance in patient safety and related standards, a SOA University release said on Friday.

The NABH is a constituent board of the Quality Council of India, set up in 2006, to establish and operate accreditation programme for healthcare organisations and has designed an exhaustive healthcare standard for hospitals and healthcare providers.

This standard consists of more than 600 stringent patient-centred and organisation-centred objective elements for the hospitals to achieve in order to qualify to get the accreditation.
