The Retired Teachers’ Association (RTA) here on Saturday demanded the State Government pay salary and pension as per the Seventh Pay Commission recommendations to all working teachers and employees and pensioners at the earliest.

Addressing a Press meet, association members alleged that the Fitment Committee, formed by the Government for implementation of the Pay Commission recommendations, is delaying taking decisions on various pretexts.

Members said they have been demanding implementation of the recommendations since January 2016.

“While the Central Government and some other State Governments are already paying their employees and pensioners as per Seventh Pay Commission recommendations, the Odisha Government is yet to implement it,” they lamented.

Their 12-point charter of demands also include provision of medical allowance of Rs 1,500 for each employee, payment of gratuity by adding DA with the basic salary, loan facility at a fewer interest rate and reduction of age limit for additional pension from 80 years to 70 years.

Among others, association State secretary Shyamsundar Khadanga, Ganjam district general secretary Rajendra Kumar Panda, secretary Kamaraju Moharana, advisor Arun Patro, NGO secretary Pradeep Kumar Sahu, Simanchal Mishra and Ganjam district College Teachers’ Association member Banamali Panigrahi were present.
