An imposter posing himself as an IPS officer working with the CBI created ripples here on Monday. Police said one Niladri Bihari Das of village Mangarajpur under Kendrapada district’s Ali police station changing his name as T Subramanyam came to Paradip police station and met additional SP Madhab Chandra Sahoo. He introduced himself as a CBI officer. He also told the SP that his mother is a District Collector and sister a lawyer.

Accordingly, the Additional SP and Paradip PS IIC Shibsankar Mohapatra behaved with him very well. They gave him a lunch in a star hotel and took him for a move inside the port prohibited area.

While Niladri was sitting in the police station, a Sub-Inspector saluted him. But Niladri reciprocated him with a namaskar with folded hands, which led to the police officers doubting his status.

Then police started grilling him about his real identity. He told the truth. The police arrested and forwarded him to the Kujang Court.
