The district administration clamped prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC in the Sunhat area of Baleswar town fearing escalation of tension.
Notably, tension has gripped the area since Wednesday night when villagers of Sunhat and Patrapada clashed during immersion of Goddess Durga idols. In the clash, a man belonging to Sunahat village was severely injured. He is undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical College Hospital in Cuttack now.
People have been asked not to gather at any place or carry any kind of weapons where prohibitory orders are in force.
Prohibitory orders have been clamped as a precautionary measure to check escalation of tension, said officials.
