The Indian Metal and Ferro Alloys (Imfa) owed electricity outstanding of Rs 480,35,87,130 to the State Government by October 2018 as per information sought through the RTI Act.
RTI activist Pradip Pradhan said he had applied to the Energy Department to know about the power dues pending against the Imfa as some BJD supporters and many other persons had made allegations that the company owed electricity dues of Rs 830 crore to the Government. In response to his query, the Engineer-in-Chief office on December 3 informed that a total amount of Rs 480,35,87,130 was pending against the Imfa up to October 2018. But the company has gone to the Supreme Court against the bill and, thus, the matter is subjudice.
Pradhan said that while more than Rs 6,000 crore of electricity dues are pending against various companies for last several years, the State Government has sat helpless in collecting the same.
