A joint eviction team consisting of officials from the BDA, the BMC and the Commissionerate Police on Saturday demolished unauthorised constructions on the Master Plan Road from Omfed Square to the lumbini Vihar at Nilamadhab Basti-I and II at Chandrasekharpur for road construction.
During the eviction drive, a total of 85 tin-sheeted houses and five AC-sheeted toilets in front of the Care Hospital were demolished.
On the occasion, Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena and MlA Priyadarshi Mishra distributed cheques to 91 RAY families, whose houses came on the proposed road alignment. The eviction could not be completed. The Mayor directed concerned officials to give one day time to the Basti people for vacating their houses.
Additional Commissioner (Enforcement) Bhabani Sankar Chayani, BDA Enforcement Officer Pramod Kumar Patro and liasioning Officer Subhransu Sekhar Mohanty were present.
