Joda being a mining town, thousands of trucks of Odisha and outside the State come for loading of iron ore here. As there is no earmarked parking zone, the traffic situation is awesome.
locals from surrounding areas depend on Joda for marketing and medical purposes. Most often, the people park their vehicles on road sides.
Trucks and tippers drivers carrying iron ore are also no different who park their vehicles anywhere on the road from Bansapani to St Teresa School, causing a very difficult situation for the passersby. Though regular complaint of traffic woes continued to fall on deaf ear of the administration, however, Mukesh Bhuma who has joined recently as the SDPO, Barbil, has started initiating action against the offenders who make illegal parking. Assisted by IIC SK Soren, on December 26 night, the Joda police regulated traffic and checked driving licences and RC book. The police also took action against those who had parked on the wrong side of road and were doing rough and drunken driving.
The SDPO said parking zone for outside trucks and tippers has been earmarked at Banspani area and trucks are not allowed to stand on the road side.
Meanwhile, Joda Vikash Parishad has demanded before the Keonjhar Collector for construction of Joda bus stand for which foundation stone has been laid at a place near Kumarjoda and a parking zone.
