Illegal medicine selling has increased in the town here. Most druggists of the district here have been selling syrups such as Corex, Fencidil, Edicough C, Alpraphs, Alkolam, Voulum Ten and lujuran etc as alternatives of alcohol. Even these medicines are sold in betel shops.
Although the Health Department has banned the selling of these syrups as alternative of alcohol, few seem to be following it. According to sources, some of the druggists are selling the medicines by giving bribe to the officials to keep them silent. The concerned citizens here have demanded immediate crackdown on the shops so as to check the illegal sale of these products.
