An alumnus of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagapur, Nihar Ranjan Beura (49) has filed nomination for the ensuing three- tier Panchayat election as a member of Panchayat Samiti from Dumuka under Marshaghai block. He will contest as an independent candidate.
Beura completed MTech in Industrial Engineering and Management and worked in and outside the country for 25 years . He worked in several MNCs like IBM, Satyam, Dell and also worked for seven years in foreign countries like the USA, the UK, the Netherlands, France, Germany and Malaysia.
According to Beura, he has decided to work for the poverty- stricken people and develop the panchayat.
“In a break from busy life, I have decided to enter into the politics to dispel a wrong notion among the general voters that everybody jumps into the fray only for earning name and fame and to loot the money of the Government,” said Beura, adding that he was a successful person and had earned enough money.
“Till 2014, I never thought that I would enter into the politics. But I took the decision after I found nothing had changed in the locality over last many years. Potable water still remains a far cry in several areas as corruption rules the roost,” said Beura. He added, “Time has changed and honest educated people should enter into the politics.”
When he was only one -year- old, Beura lost his father Sunakar Beura. His mother Sunandabala Beura faced lots of problems to nourish him and his younger sister. Meanwhile, Beura said he would give importance to basic education if elected.
Beura further said he was impressed with two things in foreign countries. One is Japanese quality and basic education system in the US. He said he would try to implement them in his panchayat.
Apart from this the IITian , Beura also gives career counselling to several job seekers of his locality. He has set up a dairy farm at his village where 54 hybrid cows and calves are housed. “People love me and would definitely stand by me by giving their valuable votes,” Beura said sounding a note of optimism.
