The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bhubaneswar organised an orientation programme for PhD and PG students at its Argul campus here on Saturday to welcome and orient about the systems of the institute, i.e., academic, extra-academic and hostel activities.
IIT BBS Director Prof RV Raja Kumar addressing the fresher batch said that these students constitute an important class of students who have done well in their bachelors, proved themselves typically in the university system and come to IIT for specialising in a narrow area of their domain.
He said that with the objective of help raising the research and development pool of the nation, last year the institute started three new programmes in MTech. Prof Kumar also said that the institute also implemented EWS reservation for MTech and MSc students. Among others, IIT BBS Student Affairs Dean Prof VR Pedireddi and Academic Affairs Dean Dr PR Sahu were present. There would be a ‘Fresher’s got talent’ programme for PG students on August 12.
